MARKET ANALYSIS
XF (1984 to 1988)

The Ford Falcon XF was produced from 1984 to 1988 and represents the final evolution of the long-running XD/XE/XF Falcon platform, closing out an era before the aerodynamic EA arrived. Built exclusively in Australia, the XF range spanned sedan, wagon, ute, panel van, and long-wheelbase Fairmont/Fairlane derivatives, and was powered predominantly by Ford’s proven 4.1-litre inline-six, with V8 options discontinued by this stage. While more conservative in design, the XF earned a reputation for durability, simplicity, and fleet reliability, becoming a staple across government, taxi, and commercial use. Total XF production exceeded 278,000 units, making it one of the most numerous Falcons ever built. In the Australian market, the XF is increasingly recognised for its cultural significance, with rising interest in original survivors, commercial body styles, factory manuals, and clean utes, as well as its popularity as a base for period builds and resto-mod projects.
