XR6 (2002 to 2016)

The Ford Falcon XR6 was a performance-oriented inline-six variant of the Australian-built Falcon, sitting below the V8 XR8 and GT models while becoming a favourite for its balance of strong torque, reliability, and everyday usability. Introduced with the BA Falcon in 2002, the XR6 was powered by Ford’s 4.0-litre Barra inline-six, later gaining turbocharged form in the XR6 Turbo, which transformed the model into a genuine performance benchmark capable of rivaling V8s. Across subsequent generations (BA, BF, FG, FG X), the XR6 became synonymous with Australian performance sedans, praised for durability, tuning potential, and real-world pace. In the Australian market, the XR6—especially Turbo variants—has developed strong enthusiast and collector interest following the end of local Falcon production in 2016, with values driven by manual gearboxes, low kilometres, unmodified examples, and late FG X cars, cementing its place as one of Australia’s most important modern performance cars.
