About the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222

The Mercedes-Benz W222 S-Class was introduced in 2014 and represents the sixth generation of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship luxury sedan, building on the S-Class reputation as the global benchmark for comfort, technology, and refinement. Offered in short- and long-wheelbase configurations, the W222 introduced cutting-edge innovations including full LED lighting across the entire range, advanced driver assistance systems, semi-autonomous driving technology, and an interior focused heavily on digital displays and ambient luxury. Engine options spanned turbocharged inline-six, V8, and V12 petrol engines, as well as diesel and plug-in hybrid variants, with notable models including the S350, S400 Hybrid, S450, S500, S560, S600, S63 AMG, and range-topping S65 AMG. Produced until 2020 before being replaced by the W223, Mercedes-Benz built approximately 500,000 W222 examples worldwide. In the Australian market, the W222 is widely regarded as one of the most complete modern S-Classes, combining strong reliability with cutting-edge tech, and with AMG and V12 variants increasingly gaining collector interest as the industry shifts away from large-capacity internal combustion luxury sedans.
