Introduced in 1986, the third-generation Toyota Supra (A70) marked a clean break from the Celica-based roots of earlier models, as Toyota repositioned the Supra as a standalone rear-wheel-drive performance grand tourer. Offered as a liftback coupe or distinctive targa-top, the A70 range featured a broad selection of inline-six engines, including naturally aspirated and turbocharged options, and introduced advanced technology for its era such as electronic suspension and traction control. One of the most notable variants was the Turbo R, a limited-production, Japan-only model featuring uprated brakes, suspension, and chassis tuning.
