Seller's Notes

This Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda is an elegant 1970s roadster, accompanied by the desirable body-matching hard top. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.8-litre inline six, delivering around 125kW to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. This example was originally delivered to the UK before being exported to Australia, where it is now registered and offered for sale. The odometer indicates 76,784 miles, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1970 The car is finished in Dark Olive Green with a matching hard top and a beige soft top. The cabin is trimmed in beige leatherette and features beige carpets and wooden inlays. It rides on a set of 14-inch steel wheels with painted centres, polished trims, and whitewall tyres. Equipment includes basic heating and ventilation controls, a VDO Kienzle analogue clock, manually operated windows, and a Blaupunkt stereo. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. The car was resprayed and retrimmed approximately 10 years ago. The car was last serviced in August 2024 at an indicated 76,600 miles. This Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda is a charming classic roadster, finished in an attractive colour scheme and treated to a respray and interior retrim approximately 10 years ago. Accompanied by the desirable removable hard top for great year-round usability and driven only lightly since its last service, it would make a solid addition to any enthusiast’s collection, and is sure to attract plenty of admiring glances on every outing. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
