1975 Land Rover Series III

A meticulously restored, original example of Land Rover’s defining British classic. Under the bonnet is recently fully rebuilt and original 2.25-litre inline-four, driving all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, This Series III is believed to have had just two owners from new. The car is finished in Light Green with a white removable hard top over a minimalistic black vinyl cabin. It rides on a set of 16-inch black wheels, shod with General Grabber tyres. Accompanying the car are numerous receipts relating to servicing and the recent engine rebuild (August 2022). The seller is not aware of any bodywork damage. The paintwork is said to be in excellent condition, and has previously been resprayed. There is flaking paint on the wing mirror stems, and imperfections on the passenger door (in keeping with its original appearance). Stepping inside, the cabin appears to be in good shape, with faint creasing on the seats, as well as age-related wear on the steering wheel and handbrake handle, scuffs and scratches on the seat backs, delamination on the rear-view mirror, and patches of corrosion on some of the metal fixings. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults. The engine was rebuilt and a new carburettor was installed in August 2022; a service was carried out 1,000 kilometres later in September 2022. The complete engine reconditioning was undertaken by CDA Engineering, and included new valves, plugs, gaskets and seals, at a cost of $8,500. Basic services are said to have taken place at six-monthly intervals. This is a handsome example of Land Rover’s classic 4x4, fresh from an engine rebuild as well as a comprehensive refurbishment completed with a focus on authenticity. It would make a fine addition to any collection of British classics, as well as a robust and characterful companion with which to traverse any terrain.
