Seller's Notes

This 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo is a highly sought-after performance icon from the first model year of production, and which has remained in single family ownership from new. The car has genuine low mileage, and the seller states that it is understood to be one of the lowest milage examples of the 1975 930 Turbo in the world. An extensive restoration and engine rebuild was carried out between 2010 and 2014. Under the rear lid sits a turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six, delivering around 200kW (260hp) to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. This original Australian-market example was initially delivered to the UK in July 1975 via Porsche Cars Great Britain (GB) as part of the ‘tourist delivery’ programme, where owners from other continents could experience their car in Europe before taking it home. The car was subsequently shipped to Australia in July 1976. The 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo was unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in October 1974, and this example’s first owner (the seller’s father) ordered the vehicle at the event. Its single ownership continued from 1975 until 2022, when the ownership was transferred to the seller. This 930-era 911 Turbo is number 229 of only 274 1975 model-year cars built, of which the seller notes that only around 30 were built in right-hand drive The seller also reports that this car is one of only six 1975 930-generation right-hand drive 911 Turbos built to comply with Australian Design Rules. The odometer indicates 28,305 kms, however this is not warranted. This 930-era 911 Turbo is finished in a timeless shade of silver over a black leather-trimmed interior. It rides on a set of 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels finished in gloss-black with polished lips, and fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Equipment includes several standard and factory installed options, including top-tinted windscreen, air conditioning, a rear screen wiper, the ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler, push-out rear windows, electric front windows, a heated rear screen, front fog lights, a sunroof, heater and ventilation controls, narrow Recaro front seats, headlight washers, pile carpets, an 80% limited-slip differential, and a Blaupunkt Bamberg stereo with a Dictaphone. All options are documented in the COA and letters from Porsche Cars Great Britain. The car comes with an original manual and logbook (confirming delivery to the original owner), a Porsche Cars Great Britain certificate of authenticity (COA) a factory standard space-saver spare wheel, the original toolkit, photos from the restoration, restoration and maintenance invoices dating from the 1980s from Sandersons Motors Sydney, Scuderia Veloce Sydney, and latterly from from Autohaus Sydney, a series of letters and communications from 1986 onwards from Porsche Cars Great Britain and Porsche Cars Australia confirming options and build to 1975 Australian Design Rules, an original 1974 Paris Auto Show press and PR kit (in German) provided to purchasers at the event, a 1974-5 new car price and option price pamphlet (in Deutschmarks) as written for the 1974 Paris Auto Show, 1974-5 Porsche colour booklets, a MY75 Porsche option booklet, 1975 Porsche 930 spare parts manual in two binders, previous registration details, and the ownership transfer details from 2022. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: a full respray from bare metal in the original colour was carried out in 2010, as well as an interior retrimming. The seller notes that car drives well, though they report that first gear is slightly noisy, which is believed to be a result of some condensation in the gearbox, rather than a mechanical issue. The most recent roadworthiness test was in March 2024, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The last maintenance was in July 2024 at around an indicated 28,300 Kms by Steve Hopkins Service, which consisted of an engine oil change, and all new filters being fitted. Technicians at Autohaus Sydney replaced the brakes, tuned the engine, and replaced the injectors in 2018 at an indicated 27,901 Kms. An extensive ‘nut and bolt’ restoration and engine rebuild was carried out between 2010 and 2014 by Porsche specialist Steve Hopkins Restoration. Within the maintenance history are services by Porsche Cars GB, Sanderson’s Rushcutters Bay Sydney and parts from Scuderia Veloce Motors at various times from 1976 to 1990, engine oil changes carried out by technicians at Top Tune Sydney from 1990 to 2009, the drive belt being replaced in 2013, tuning and parts replacement by Autohaus in 2018 and annual engine oil changes and roadworthiness tests by Steve Hopkins Service from 2010 to the present day. This 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 is a rare and iconic modern classic performance car, offered from single-family ownership and benefitting from a historical restoration and engine rebuild. Number 229 of only 284 examples built for 1975, and one of only six RHD cars built to ADRs it is a highly sought-after ‘first year’ variant of the 930 Turbo, which is bound to attract strong interest from dedicated marque collectors. This storied car would make an impressive addition to any assembly of Stuttgart’s finest, and an exciting companion for weekend drives and classic car show exhibitions.
