Seller's Notes

This Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is a rugged and dependable classic off-roader, fitted with upgraded Old Man Emu suspension springs. It is powered by a carburetted 4.2-litre inline-six, delivering 99kW to all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The five-digit odometer displays 30,479 kilometres, though this is not warranted. The car is finished in Dune Beige over a black vinyl-trimmed cabin. It rides on a set of Toyota chrome LX 16-inch wheels, fitted with BF Goodrich tyres. Equipment includes a drop-down glovebox, basic heating and ventilation controls, and a Eurovox radio. Accompanying the sale is the owner’s book pack, Club Permit paperwork, a vehicle logbook, magazines featuring the model, a service and repair manual, a folder of invoices and paperwork, original Toyota tools, jack, and a fire extinguisher. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: some minor stone chips on the front end, scratches and ‘patina’ on the vehicle, and discolouration on the seat vinyl. The door seals, rubbers, badges, extractors, exhaust, and headlights have been replaced with genuine Toyota parts. The seller reports that the bonnet and doors were repainted several years ago, paint touch-ups have been carried out at the rear of the vehicle, and the seat bottoms have been reupholstered. The car was last serviced in August 2024 at an indicated 29,809 kilometres, which included replacing the oils and filters. Prior to this, oil and filter services were carried out in September 2022, March 2021, January 2019, January 2018, and January 2017. A front wheel bearing and the brakes were adjusted in April 2022. During the seller’s 12-month ownership, the suspension has been upgraded and bushes have been replaced, the vehicle has been detailed, the brakes have been inspected, and the air intake hose has been replaced. The car is reported to have extensive service history. The Toyota Land Cruiser has long been hailed as one of the most durable and dependable off-roaders thanks to its simple construction, rugged mechanicals, and proven all-terrain ability. Praised by the seller for its nostalgia, mechanical simplicity, and ease of maintenance, this example would make a highly usable addition to any collection, a stylish retro daily driver, and a capable companion for a fresh series of on- and off-road adventures. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
