Seller's Notes

This Land Rover Series III 109” is a rugged and dependable modern classic utility vehicle, which benefits from significant mechanical maintenance over recent years. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 2.25-litre inline-four, which sends its power to all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. This example has been with the seller for three years. The odometer indicates 14,702 Kms, though this is not warranted. This Series III 109” is finished in the eye-catching hue of Bahama Gold with a removable cab roof, over a body-coloured cabin, featuring a black dashboard, and brown vinyl upholstery. It rides on a set of 16-inch steel wheels finished in gloss black, fitted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tyres. Equipment includes a bonnet-mounted spare wheel carrier, a three-spoke steering wheel, a high and low range gearbox, Smiths gauges, and basic ventilation slats. This example has been fitted with a USB input, Pricol oil temperature, pressure and battery amperage gauges, black aluminium chequer plate on the upper front wings, aftermarket wing mirrors, and the rear ‘ute’ tray was replaced with a tub. The car comes with the roadworthiness certificate, the removable cab roof, a spare wheel, a tow bar, the registration transfer, and three years’ worth of maintenance invoices. The seller notes a previous minor incident, which consisted of the handbrake being left off causing the car to roll around 10 metres out of the driveway and into a tree. This resulted in the front bumper being replaced and a dent in the bonnet being removed. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the bonnet and tailgate have been professionally repainted, there is an age-related exterior patina with minor scuffs, dents and scratches around the car, faint blemishes on both side doors from previously installed decals, very minor surface rust on the bulkhead, and some vinyl is missing along the seam line of two seats. The cab retains its original patina with a white roof and Bahama gold Cab, and it is very straight with no dents. The two front and rear window guide channels do require replacement. This Series III’s most recent maintenance was carried out in September 2024 at an indicated 14,589 Kms by Classic Land Rover Cooroy, which consisted of the head bolt tension being checked, the tappets checked and reset, a new speedometer cable fitted, and a general inspection. Extensive engine work was carried out in May 2024, which included the cylinder head being serviced, the engine block cleaned, and an engine oil and coolant change, as well as the wiring for the lights, indicators and wipers being fixed, and a general degreasing. Notable maintenance carried out in 2023 includes: a service, the gear lever replaced, engine and gearbox oils being changed, and a new oil filter being installed in January, the timing and clutch being adjusted, the gearbox and transfer case oil levels checked and topped-up as required, a new output seal and felt installed, and the handbrake adjusted in June, and a new Weber carburettor installed, new silicone hoses, linkages and hose clamps fitted, and the fuel filter changed in December. Notable maintenance carried out in 2022 includes: the transfer case and brake fluid changed, new rear brake shoes, steering issues being checked and rectified, exhaust leaks rectified, the brakes adjusted, the fuel tank cleaned, a new fuel pump fitted, new tie rod ends, rocker cover and clutch cylinders, the clutch flex hose and fluid replaced, and carburettor and steering repairs in June, and a new manifold gasket being fitted, the fan belt replaced, the manifold bolt/washers replaced, an engine oil top-up, and the exhaust system being checked in September. This Land Rover Series III 109” is a venerable and highly capable modern classic British 4x4, which benefits from significant mechanical maintenance over recent years. Presented with an appealing period colour scheme unashamedly wearing a characterful ‘patina’, and boasting impressive hauling capabilities, a dependable inline-four engine, and renowned all-terrain capabilities, it would make a versatile companion for retro daily driving and weekend adventures. both on and off the beaten track.
