A rugged and versatile off-roader, sensitively updated with power steering and air conditioning. In late 2022, this restored Land Cruiser was exported from Indonesia to Australia, where it is now offered for sale. This hard-top FJ40 features rear ‘barn doors’ with a spare wheel, two front seats, and twin rear bench seats. It is finished in yellow with a white roof over a simple cabin with black vinyl upholstery for the seats and door cards. It rides on a set of grey 15-inch wheels with polished centres and chunky off-road Accelera tyres. The specification now includes air conditioning, power steering, and a radio-cassette player. Accompanying the sale is the original repair manual, import paperwork, and Toyota Japan tool bag. The resprayed paintwork is reported to be in good condition, with flaking paint on some of the fixtures, a small area of overspray on the driver’s door latch, and minor blemishes around the bodywork. Moving inside, the cabin is very smart, and the seats have been retrimmed and fitted with temporary protective plastic covers. There are minor imperfections on the headliner, and some time-earned ‘patina’ across the dials and controls. Part of the driver’s window winder is missing, though this should be relatively easy to replace. The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults. There is a valid NSW registration in place, which expires on 19 February 2024. The last service took place at around 146,000 kilometres, and was carried out during the restoration at the end of 2022. This included replacing all fluids and fitting new tyres. Seatbelts have been fitted during the seller’s six-month ownership, and the car was inspected by Tudor Automotive in Melbourne.
