This Toyota Land Cruiser is a custom version of the famed Japanese 4x4, converted to camper specification in period and offered in good mechanical order. Under the bonnet is a 4.2-litre 2F straight-six petrol engine, driving all four wheels via a four-speed H41 manual transmission. While there are a few straightforward jobs to attend to, this FJ45 could make great classic adventure vehicle. Arkana was a specialist body builder based in Perth, WA, which was responsible for converting and upgrading numerous Toyota Land Cruisers in period, with a variety of body styles. This example was built to camper specification, with a box rear body, featuring access doors on the passenger side and at the rear. It features a custom bull bar section, snorkel air intake, tow ball, and both a spare wheel carrier and fuel tank carrier at the rear. While it has been stripped of any internals, there are shelf areas in the roof section, and the floor is lined with insulation matting. The front cabin section features grey cloth upholstery, grey vinyl door cards, and grey carpeting. There is also a single-DIN GME Electrophone UHF radio system, manual winding windows, new seat belts, and a cabin heater. This Land Cruiser has front disc brakes, new LED and HID light conversions throughout, and it has also been fitted with twin gas tanks (now due for renewal). There is no known prior bodywork damage, though various rust repairs have been carried out, including a new front bib panel and windscreen surround section. Some sections have been resprayed, but the roof remains in the original St Moritz White finish. There are some paint runs on both the front doors, but overall it is a presentable classic. Inside, the original grey cloth has a small burn hole in the passenger seat, and there is a small tear in the side panel vinyl of the driver’s seat. Some general discolouration and marking is also present on the upholstery. New moulded carpet has been fitted in the front cabin, with vinyl matting underneath. A roll of grey carpet is included in the sale for the rear section. The seller states that the brakes are in need of replacement, and that it also needs new tie rods (though spare parts for the latter are included in the sale, ready to be fitted). The fuel gauge currently does not read correctly. The speedometer cable is also currently disconnected from when the silver surround was resprayed. Outside, the windscreen washer jet appears to be blocked as it does not release any fluid. This Land Cruiser has had a recent engine oil and filter change.
