A handsomely presented and particularly low-mileage example of Mercedes-Benz’s rugged all-terrain vehicle. Under the bonnet sits a 2.3-litre inline-four, driving all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. This 230 GE has been fitted with upgraded LED front and rear lights, and the originals are also supplied with the vehicle. The car was originally delivered to Japan and was exported to Australia in 2011, where it is now offered for sale. This W460-generation G-Wagen is finished in Midnight Blue over a half-leather interior with plaid cloth inserts and Recaro front seats. It rides on a set of black 17-inch alloy wheels with polished lips. Factory-fitted equipment includes manual front windows, sliding rear windows, differential locks, and a Becker Grand Prix stereo. The headlights and taillights have been replaced with upgraded LED versions, and the original items are supplied if preferred by the new keeper. Also accompanying the sale is the original owner’s book pack, a handful of invoices, toolkit, bottle jack, and two sets of keys. There is no known bodywork damage. The Midnight Blue paintwork is described as being in excellent overall condition, with only a few small blemishes around the vehicle, including a small chip and a scratch on the offside rear quarter panel, a little flaking on the offside rear wheel arch trim, and a couple of small marks on the front end. Only a few minor flaws are visible on the alloy wheels, and 75% of tread is said to remain across all four tyres. Inside, the cabin is in very good order, save for a small tear on the driver’s seat bolster and a couple of cracks on the top of the dashboard. There are no known electrical or mechanical faults, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard. This 230GE’s most recent service was conducted in March 2022 at 56,805 kilometres by Prestige Quality Automotive, who aligned the steering, serviced the air conditioning, fitted new drag links, and inspected the vehicle. A service was previously carried out in July 2019, and the suspension was overhauled by Pedders in 2013. Previous Japanese service history is also included. This is a very well-presented example of Mercedes-Benz’s robust and reliable W463-generation Geländewagen, fitted with a dependable four-cylinder petrol engine and a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. Evidently well-maintained over the years and having covered just 56,943 kilometres from new, this 230 GE would make for a faithful all-terrain companion as well as a stylish retro daily driver for any marque enthusiast.
