Seller's Notes

A rugged and reliable all-terrain vehicle, which was treated to an engine rebuilt around 32,000 kilometres ago. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre inline-five diesel, delivering around 87bhp and 126lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission with three locking differentials. This G-Wagen was purchased by the seller in the UK in 2013 before being exported to Australia. The odometer read approximately 129,000 miles (207,605 km) upon arrival before being swapped with a new km/h item. The total mileage is therefore approximately 271,605 kilometres. The car is finished in green with contrasting matte black trim over a tan check cloth interior. It rides on a set of black 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, shod with Michelin tyres. The specification includes a roof rack and rear ladder, folding rear seats, and a Sony CD player with auxiliary input. Modifications include an aftermarket exhaust and military-specification side mirrors. Accompanying the sale is the original owner’s book pack, import paperwork, various maintenance invoices dating back 20 years, toolkit, jack, MPH speedometer, spare wheel and various spares. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the car was resprayed more than 15 years ago prior to current ownership, and today there are some minor blemishes, stone chips, corrosion and bubbling around the paintwork, a damaged thread in the fabric of the rear bench seat, and marks on the vinyl tan trim in the loading area. The front/rear differential locks are reportedly ‘sticky’ in their operation, as they are used very infrequently. A new air conditioning compressor is supplied, but the system was decommissioned since the engine rebuild. The seller states that this could be put back into service by the new owner if desired. The seller carried out an oil service in January 2022 at an indicated 58,000 kilometres. Prior to this, oil services were conducted in July 2021 at an indicated 51,000 kilometres, December 2020 at an indicated 44,000 kilometres, and July 2020 at an indicated 36,600 kilometres. The seller has also replaced the seals, lights, shifter boots, window and central locking mechanisms, seat cushions, and dash trims and various other parts with OEM items. Other work carried out under current ownership is detailed in the list below. Maintenance details: Regular chassis and cavity treatment with INOX and lanolin New door and windscreen seals Main fuel tank and saddle fuel tanks removed, cleaned and internally coated Recoated bumpers, grille, and light protectors Jul 2020: replaced all control arm and stabiliser arm rubber bushes as well as the front windscreen wiper bushes and blades Jun 2018: engine rebuilt at an indicated 32,500 kilometres, which included replacing the engine mounts, transmission mounts, water pump, oil cooler hoses and piping, and exhaust Apr 2017: rebuilt fuel pump Oct 2015: rebuilt transmission with new bearings, synchromeshes and seals, installed new clutch and thrust bearing, and rebuilt front steering knuckles and swivel hubs Mar 2015: rebuilt steering box with re-chromed shafts Nov 2014: overhauled and rebuilt all brake callipers and drum cylinders, skimmed discs and drums, fitted new brake pads, and relined brake drum shoes Jun 2014: removed, cleaned and internally coated main and saddle fuel tanks Apr 2014: fitted new tie rods, drag links, steering damper, suspension springs and Bilstein dampers, coated all wheels with Xylan, and fitted new Michelin tyres Dec 2013: re-cored radiator This Mercedes-Benz (W460) 300 GD SWB is a well-maintained example of the brand’s popular off-roader, which has been fitted with many replacement parts during the seller’s 10-year ownership. Finished in a tasteful colour scheme and reported to be in good mechanical health, it would make a very usable addition to any marque enthusiast’s garage as well as an enjoyable all-terrain companion for a host of new adventures.
