Seller's Notes

A rare and highly sought-after three-door short wheel-base example of the rugged 4x4, refinished in a menacing matte black hue. Under the bonnet is the 3.0-litre inline-six, which powers all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, three locking differentials and selectable low-range gearing for enhanced off-road usability. This ‘Geländewagen’ all-terrain vehicle was original delivered to Japan before being imported to New Zealand and then finding its way to Australia where right-hand drive examples are particularly hard to find. Originally painted metallic red, this 300 GE was professionally repainted in Matte Black in 2015 by the previous owner. The interior is finished in grey cloth with wood door trims, centre console, dashboard, and steering wheel. Standard equipment includes electrically operated front windows and door mirrors, while an aftermarket CD radio, reversing camera and dashboard-mounted display have also been fitted. It rides on an aftermarket set of 18-inch ATP alloy wheels, which are shod in all-terrain tyres. The exterior trim items and door mirrors have been wrapped in carbon fibre-style vinyl. This 300 GE will be supplied with its service booklet, various receipts documenting its maintenance, and documentation of its mileage when it was imported from Japan to New Zealand. There is no known body damage. The resprayed matte black paintwork is presented in good overall condition given the vehicle’s and age and mileage, with some stone chips around the bonnet, front bar, and wheel guards. The paintwork on the plastic headlight surrounds and the front and rear wiper arms is starting to come away, and would benefit from being refinished. There are also some small cracks on the rear bumper, as well as light surface corrosion on the exposed bolts and tow bar, and the matte black vinyl on the door mirrors covers is beginning to lift. Inside, the driver’s seat cushion is showing some signs of wear and some slight separation of the fabric. There are some minor signs of wear and small blemishes on the dashboard and centre console, and the vendor notes that the tweeter speakers have not been securely installed. There are no warning lights on the dashboard, nor are there any known electrical faults. The vehicle’s last roadworthiness inspection was conducted in June 2021, resulting in a pass. This 300 GE’s last service was carried out at 203,899kms by ABC Tyrepower Rosebery where the vehicle was subject to an engine oil and filter replacement, a fluid level check, and replacement of its fuel lines. This Mercedes-Benz 300 GE is an honest and lightly customised example of the robust German 4x4, which is made all the more appealing thanks to its right-hand drive, short wheelbase configuration. Recently serviced and reported to be in fine mechanical health, this G-Wagen should make a robust and imposing daily driver, and will comfortably tackle almost any terrain should its next owner wish to take the path less travelled.
