Seller's Notes

This W140-generation Mercedes-Benz S600 Coupe is a timeless and smart example of the handsome flagship V12-powered modern classic coupe, which is reported to be in highly original condition. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12, delivering around 298kW in this specification to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. This right-hand drive example was imported from Brunei by the current owner, and is now located in Australia and registered in Queensland. The vehicle is understood to have been originally owned by the Brunei Royal Family and first auctioned to the public in 2008. The seller notes that the VIN appears in the list of cars of the royal collection that can be found online. The odometer indicates 525 miles, however this is not warranted, and the car’s true, total mileage cannot be confirmed as the odometer has stopped. This S600 Coupe is finished in a sleek shade of black over a black leather-trimmed interior, punctuated by handsome wood veneer trim inlays. It rides on a set of ‘Eltanin’ 18-inch Monoblock polished alloy wheels, shod in Michelin Primacy 3 tyres. The factory specification includes headlamp washers, an electrically operated rear roller blind, an electric sunroof, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated rear screen, electrically adjustable dampers, electrically adjustable folding door mirrors, and electrically adjustable front seats with three-position memory. This example now features a retro-style Continental stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. This item is new, but requires re-installation. The car comes with a warning triangle, and a maintenance invoice from the most recent service. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: various blemishes around the car, a number of scratches, tears on the driver’s seat, the wood trims are cracked in some places, some of the buttons are fragile, the rear blind is inoperable, and the glovebox does not open. The interior headliner has recently been replaced. The seller is not aware of any mechanical faults and they note that the car drives well, though they do note that the odometer does not work, and the soft-close doors operate intermittently. There is a warning light showing on the dashboard for the suspension, which is reportedly related to a steering angle sensor. However, the vehicle is reported to ride smoothly, and was checked over during its most recent service. This S600’s most recent maintenance was completed at Austar Motors in Brisbane in May 2023, which consisted of an engine oil and filter change, the brake fluid replaced, suspension work, a new combination filter, air filter elements, fuel filter, and coolant, as well the front bumper secured, the bonnet release handle replaced, and a new bonnet cable and battery installed. This W140-generation Mercedes-Benz S600 Coupe is a timeless and solid example of the refined yet potent modern classic flagship performance coupe, which is reported to be in highly original condition. Understood to be in generally fine mechanical health, it could now benefit from cosmetic maintenance in due course to bring it back to its best. With a timeless all-black colour scheme and a powerful V12 engine, it would make a cossetting companion for retro daily driving and weekend trips, or a rewarding cosmetic restoration project for any marque enthusiast. The description of this consignment is, to the best of the seller’s knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller and performs a level of due diligence. However, potential buyers must independently satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description. Potential buyers should view or arrange inspections as well as conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to bid or buy. Please note that it is not uncommon for classic or collectible vehicles to have received cosmetic repairs in the past, either to rectify damage or refresh appearance, and this work may be undetectable even upon visual inspection. Unless there is an explicit statement by the seller to the contrary, please assume that any vehicle could have had bodywork or paintwork during its life. Furthermore, photographs may not reflect the true colour or full condition of the vehicle. It is a bidder’s responsibility to satisfy themselves of the colour and condition of a vehicle, including its interior and the existence of any remedial bodywork or paintwork, before committing to bid or buy. This includes by raising enquiries with the seller in the comments section. For vehicles, unless otherwise stated, potential buyers should also assume that any cherished registration may be retained by the seller. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details. This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number. This vehicle has been checked through the Austroads NEVDIS system, and there are no markers under the written-off or stolen databases.
