MARKET ANALYSIS
F80 (2015 to 2018)

Launched for the 2015 model year, the BMW F80 M3 marked a turning point for the nameplate, becoming the first turbocharged M3 and the first to use a dedicated M chassis code separate from the standard 3 Series. Offered exclusively as a sedan following the split of the coupe into the M4 line, the F80 was powered by BMW M’s S55 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six, delivering a significant jump in torque and everyday performance while retaining rear-wheel drive and offering both manual and dual-clutch transmissions. The range expanded over its lifecycle to include standout variants such as the Competition Package, 30 Jahre Edition, Pure, and the more track-focused M3 CS, giving the generation notable depth. Total F80 M3 production is estimated at approximately 40,000–45,000 cars worldwide, before production ended in 2018 ahead of the G80. In the Australian market, the F80 M3 was officially delivered in solid numbers and remains highly popular for its blend of performance and practicality, with values influenced by manual vs DCT preference, Competition or CS specification, mileage, originality, and condition, as buyers increasingly recognise it as the bridge between naturally aspirated and modern turbocharged BMW M eras.
