NSX (1991 to 2022)

Introduced in 1990, the Honda NSX reshaped expectations of what a supercar could be, blending exotic mid-engine performance with everyday usability, reliability, and precision engineering in a way no rival had managed before. Developed with direct input from Ayrton Senna, the first-generation NSX (chassis codes NA1 and later NA2) featured an all-aluminium monocoque, rear-wheel drive, and a naturally aspirated V6 with VTEC—initially a 3.0-litre, later expanded to 3.2 litres—paired with manual or automatic transmissions. Alongside the fixed-roof NSX, Honda offered the NSX-T, which used a removable targa roof panel while maintaining the car’s structural integrity, making it the more common configuration globally. Total first-generation NSX production is approximately 18,000 cars worldwide between 1990 and 2005. In the Australian market, the NSX was officially sold in very limited numbers and remains highly respected for its engineering purity and motorsport heritage, with values driven by manual transmission, NA1 vs NA2 specification, roof type (NSX vs NSX-T), originality, mileage, and provenance, as the model is now firmly established as one of the most important Japanese performance cars ever built.
