MARKET ANALYSIS
Carrera 3.0 (1976 to 1977)

Produced only for the 1976 and 1977 model years, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 occupies a unique and often overlooked position in 911 history, bridging the gap between the earlier Carrera 2.7 and the later 911 SC. Built exclusively for Rest of World (ROW) markets, the Carrera 3.0 combined the wide-body Carrera shell with a newly developed 3.0-litre air-cooled flat-six derived from the Turbo program, featuring aluminium crankcases and CIS fuel injection for improved durability and drivability. Although positioned below the Turbo in the range, it delivered strong performance and robust engineering, making it a significant step toward the SC-era cars that followed. In the Australian market, the Carrera 3.0 is rare and almost always imported, valued by knowledgeable collectors for its short production run, mechanical significance, and understated appearance compared to later wide-body 911s. Values are driven by originality, matching numbers, body style, condition, and documentation, with well-preserved examples increasingly recognised as one of the most interesting transitional models of the G-body era.
