MARKET ANALYSIS
Cabriolet (1984 to 1988)

Introduced in 1984 as the open-top successor to the 911 SC Cabriolet, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet brought the most refined version of the G-body platform into a full convertible format, combining classic air-cooled character with improved performance and usability. Built in narrow-body form, it was powered by the naturally aspirated 3.2-litre flat-six driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, initially the Porsche 915 before a significant upgrade arrived in 1987 with the introduction of the Getrag G50 transmission. Production ran through to 1989, with 19,987 examples built worldwide, making the Cabriolet one of the more common Carrera 3.2 body styles while still retaining strong enthusiast appeal. In the Australian market, the Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet has long been popular due to favourable climate, official local deliveries, and strong specialist support, with values influenced by gearbox (G50 premium), originality, mileage, condition, and documentation, as buyers increasingly seek well-kept examples of the final naturally aspirated G-body 911s.
