Speedster (1989 to 1989)

Produced for the 1989 model year only, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Speedster was a limited-run celebration of Porsche heritage, reviving the minimalist, low-profile Speedster concept first made famous by the 356. Featuring a distinctive shortened windscreen, lightweight convertible top, and pared-back interior, the 3.2 Speedster delivered a purist open-air driving experience powered by the naturally aspirated 3.2-litre flat-six, producing 234 hp in most markets (detuned to 207 hp in North America) and driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Two versions were offered: the rarer narrow-body Speedster and the more aggressive Turbo-Look (M491) widebody, which used the 930 Turbo shell, suspension, and brakes. Total production was 2,104 cars worldwide, comprising 171 narrow-body and 1,933 Turbo-Look examples. In the Australian market, Carrera 3.2 Speedsters are exceptionally rare and highly prized, with most cars imported and values driven by body type (narrow-body premium), originality, documentation, mileage, and condition, placing the Speedster among the most collectible and recognisable variants of the Carrera 3.2 lineup.
