Seller's Notes

This Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600 is a charismatic and competition-prepared 1960s sports saloon, representing Alfa Romeo’s celebrated 105-series with proven rally pedigree. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre twin-cam inline-four, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. This example is offered from long-term ownership of 27 years, during which time it has been developed for Targa competition use. It represents a multiple class-winning entrant in Targa Tasmania events, with numerous finishes and strong results in classic competition categories. The odometer indicates 103,481 miles, though this is not warranted. Build year: 1967 This Giulia Super 1600 has been significantly modified for historic rally and competition use, with a focus on reliability and driver safety. This example is finished in the eye-catching shade of Giallo Fly with contrasting twin blue racing stripes and a white Alfa Romeo snake logo on the bonnet, as well as various sponsorship decals, over a largely stripped-out black cabin, now featuring black cloth-trimmed Corbeau bucket seats, a blue roll cage, and wood veneer and chrome trim. It rides on a set of 14-inch steel wheels finished in black with yellow lips, fitted with Dunlop Formula-R tyres. Equipment now includes headlamp grilles, Corbeau Pro Race fixed-back bucket seats, six-point harnesses (now date expired), a full roll cage by Jason White, a Momo leather-trimmed steering wheel, kill switches, an intercom system, a digital VDO ‘Minicockpit’ rally trip meter, a rear seat ‘delete’, lowered Pace springs front and rear, Bilstein gas front shock absorbers, Koni ‘Red’ rear shock absorbers, a relocated battery (boot), and a rear cabin storage net. The front and rear bumpers have been removed, though they are included in the sale. Accompanying items include two sets of keys, receipts for work carried out, original Connolly leather front seats, a Cams logbook, an Australian Auto Sport Alliance vehicle passport, and a selection of spare parts available by request. Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the bodyshell was previously stripped, soda blasted, had sill replacements, and a full respray. Damage to the left-hand rear panel was sustained during Targa West Point and subsequently repaired, and an electrical fire in the engine bay occurred during Targa Tasmania, which was also repaired. Paint damage is noted on the driver’s side of the bonnet following the engine bay fire. The cabin has been stripped with no carpets fitted. The seller states that the headlight switch has been replaced. The seller states that the last maintenance was carried out in March 2026, comprising an engine oil and filter change, a new fuel filter, the coolant renewed, and the brake fluid being changed. The seller states that prior servicing includes engine oil service and maintenance carried out by the owner in March 2011 and January 2010. The seller states that additional maintenance includes gearbox and differential oil changes in 2004 and 2010. Other notable maintenance includes the engine being rebuilt in February 2004, and the seller states that the engine has covered approximately 12,000 km since this rebuild. This Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600 is a well-known and extensively developed example of the marque’s iconic 105-series sports saloon, prepared for and proven in competitive Targa rally events. With long-term ownership, a reportedly documented restoration, and numerous performance-focused upgrades, it represents a compelling historic competition car with genuine event pedigree. Equally suited to further classic rally use or fast-road enjoyment, it offers an engaging and characterful driving experience backed by Alfa Romeo’s celebrated engineering and motorsport heritage.
