About the Fiat

Fiat (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino) remains a symbol of Italian design and urban practicality, currently navigating a transitional period in the 2026 Australian market. As the brand pivots toward electrification, its "modern classic" petrol 500 Dolcevita continues to sell from existing local stock for approximately $28,900 to $32,000, while the all-electric 500e leads the new-energy charge at roughly $52,500. The desirability of the brand in Australia is increasingly split: contemporary buyers value the 500e’s eco-credentials for city commuting, while a robust collector pool seeks out "halo" heritage models like the 124 Spider and Dino, which can fetch between $45,000 and $130,000 for well-preserved examples. Despite fierce competition from new entrants in the small-car segment, Fiat retains a loyal buyer pool of design-conscious professionals and European car enthusiasts who are drawn to the brand's 127-year history and its unique ability to blend "La Dolce Vita" style with compact agility. While the passenger car lineup is consolidating, Fiat’s commercial arm—headlined by the Ducato and the revived Scudo (starting at $48,490)—is currently enjoying record local success, ensuring the "Fabbrica Italiana" badge remains a common and liquid sight on Australian roads.
